Scheduled Posts
Scheduled posts allow you to automatically generate content on a recurring schedule. Set up weekly or monthly schedules to ensure consistent content delivery without manual intervention.
Overview
Scheduled posts automatically generate content based on your configured schedule. You can set up posts to run:
- Weekly - On specific days of the week (e.g., every Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
- Monthly - On specific days of the month (e.g., the 1st and 15th of each month)
Each scheduled post can be configured with:
- Topic selection - Recent stories, trending topics, or custom topics
- Content type - Newsletter, social media, blog post, etc.
- Story count - Number of stories to include (0-3 depending on content type)
- Product tie-ins - Optional product or service references to weave into content

How Scheduled Posts Work
Automatic Generation
When a scheduled post's day arrives:
- BetterPost automatically selects stories or topics based on your configuration
- Content is generated using your project's audience, tone, and additional instructions
- Generated content is saved and appears in your content list
- You can review, edit, and publish the content manually
Content Generation Settings
Scheduled posts use:
- Your project's default audience and tone settings
- Additional instructions from project settings
- Content-type-specific settings if configured
- Product tie-ins if selected
Story Selection
Story selection works differently depending on the topic type you choose:
Recent Stories:
- Stories are selected from your project's story list
- Only stories within your max story age setting are considered
- Stories are filtered and sorted by your project's content criteria relevancy
- Most recent, relevant stories are prioritized
Trending Topics and Custom Topics:
- Stories are selected using a blended relevancy score that combines:
- Topic Similarity (50%): How well the story matches the selected trending or custom topic
- Project Criteria Relevancy (50%): How well the story matches your project's content criteria
- This ensures that scheduled posts with topics still respect your project's content criteria
- Stories without project criteria relevancy scores will be selected based on topic similarity alone
Best Practices
Schedule Frequency
- Newsletters: Weekly (e.g., every Monday or Friday)
- Social Media: Multiple times per week (e.g., Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
- Blog Posts: Weekly or bi-weekly
- Video Content: Weekly
Topic Selection Strategy
Use Recent Stories when:
- You want to curate specific stories
- You have a steady stream of relevant content
- You want control over which stories are featured
Use Trending Topics when:
- You want AI to find the most relevant current topics
- You want variety in your content
- You're covering broad industry trends
Use Custom Topics when:
- You have specific themes or campaigns
- You want to focus on particular subjects
- You're creating series or themed content
Story Count Guidelines
- Newsletters: 2-3 stories for comprehensive coverage
- Social Media: 1 story for focused posts
- Blog Posts: 2-3 stories for in-depth analysis
- Video Content: 1 story for focused scripts
Product Tie-Ins
- Use sparingly - 1-2 tie-ins per post is usually enough
- Ensure tie-ins are relevant to the content topic
- Don't force connections - let the AI naturally integrate them
Troubleshooting
No Content Generated
Check:
- Are there stories available that match your criteria?
- Is your max story age setting appropriate?
- Are your content criteria too restrictive?
Solutions:
- Adjust your content criteria to be more inclusive
- Increase your max story age if needed
- Switch to "Trending Topics" if story selection is limited
Content Quality Issues
If content doesn't match your style:
- Review your project's audience and tone settings
- Check your additional instructions
- Review content-type-specific settings
If topics aren't relevant:
- Refine your project's content criteria
- Use custom topics for more control
- Review and adjust your saved topics
Schedule Not Running
Check:
- Is the scheduled post still active?
- Are there any errors in the content generation?
- Is your project timezone set correctly?
Solutions:
- Verify the schedule is saved correctly
- Check the content list for any error messages
- Ensure your project timezone matches your intended schedule
